A primary purpose of Arlington High School’s electronic network is to support and enhance learning and teaching by providing electronic communications and information resources.
General Policies and Guidelines
It is a general policy that St. Paul Arlington High School facilities are to be used in a responsible, efficient, ethical, and legal manner in accordance with the mission of St. Paul Arlington High School and the St. Paul Board of Education. Users must acknowledge their understanding of the general policy and guidelines as a condition of receiving an account or using the networks. Failure to adhere to this policy and its guidelines below will result in revoking the offender’s privilege of network access.
Guideline I: Acceptable uses of the network are activities which support learning and teaching. Network users are encouraged to develop uses which meet their individual needs and which take advantage of the network’s functions.
Guideline II: Unacceptable uses of the network include: Creating, viewing, downloading, storing, or printing sites, files or messages that are profane, obscene, or that use language that offends or degrades others. Attempting to degrade or disrupt system performance. This will be viewed as criminal activity under applicable state and federal law. Violating the rights of privacy of students and employees of St. Paul Public Schools. Using the network for financial gain or for any commercial or illegal activity.
Guideline III: The person in whose name an account is issued is responsible at all times for its proper use. Users should change their passwords frequently.
Specific unacceptable uses at AHS:
No chat rooms
No music videos or lyrics sites without a signed pass from a teacher with details of the assignment.
No pornographic sites
