 | |  |  |  | | Courses Offered |  | Introduction to Visual Arts- This course is a prerequisite to all advanced visual arts classes at
Arlington. The choices of advanced classes are Advanced Crafts,
Advanced Mixed Media, and Advanced Photography.
This course will
examine the elements of art and principles of design. There will also
be a series of projects that explore several media areas including,
drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry, photography, and cartooning.
Advanced Crafts-Cultural Arts Exploration- This class centers around three dimensional artworks like ceramics, sculpture, and jewelry.
Advanced Mixed Media-
Students will explore diffferent media areas including drawing,
painting, and ceramics. The students will experiment with a variety of
techniques including how to combine the different media. Special
attention will also be paid to art criticism and art history.
Advanced Photography- In Advanced Photography, the students will learn the basics of black
and white film photography. The students will learn to use a manual
camera and create several photographs using the darkroom. Through the
process of taking and developing their pictures, the students will
examine the use of contrast, values, balance and composition.
Video Production- The
students will learn the process of creating short films and explore the
uses of video in society today. The students will start with a
storyboard, shoot their videos using students from class as actors, and
edit their videos using iMovie or Final Cut Pro. After each project,
there will be a class critique where the students will examine their
work and discuss ways to improve it. This course is a recommended
elective for the students in the Bio Engineering and Technology
Pathway.
