 | | | | | Genmab (5-22-09) On Friday May 22nd, a group of BET Biotechnical Engineering students attended a field experience at Genmab's manufacturing facilities in Brooklyn Park.
Genmab is a leading international biotechnology company focused on
developing fully human antibody therapeutics for the potential treatment of
cancer.
Students toured the companies manufacturing facilities where cancer fighting drugs are produced using genetically modified organisms. As a coincidence, the students previously performed a lab in class very similar to the procedure that Genmab uses to produce this drug so it was a unique opportunity to see that the same procedure is used in industry, just on a much bigger scale, and that learning in the Biotechnical class is directly related to industry practice. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students and staff!
Special thanks to Tom Lannom and Michael Gramer, both from Genmab for making this experience possible for our BioSMART students!
