Poetry Festival Slams Arlington

Aprill Moua - Grand Prize Winner for her poetry project - "Soul Food"

On Wednesday April 30th Arlington hosted its second annual poetry festival and poetry "slam". Students from English classes researched poets and selected a favorite poet/poem to focus on for the festival. Students then prepared a display board with lots of information about their poet.

The festival was held in the Great Hall, where everyone shared what they had learned during the project. It was a great success with hundreds of students participating. Next was the "poetry slam" with students getting up on stage to recite, rhyme, and rap some original poetry to an enthusiastic crowd.
